Pesto Pailie
No, it is not new Pasta sauce recipe, but a repeat of Father's sermons, discussions and other talks. Delivered with no half-life, anywhere you are. Updated frequently, last on June 18, 2008. Enjoy and be edified.
Na Mas Zisi!
Congratulations to our newly enlighted Nathan Gravelle, son of Nathan and Jennifer Gravelle, baptized Saturday, March 31.
A Successful Lamb Shank Dinner
Thanks you to Presbytera Anna and the Social Committee, and especially to our gourmet cooks, Chris Malonis, Milt Monoxelos, and Peter Davis, for a very successful and delicious Lamb Shank Dinner on May 17. The dinner netted about $2000! Thanks also to all who generously supported this event. The Lamb Shanks put us in mind of our Festival on July 25, 26, and 27. We will also be having another Lamb Shank Dinner in October—keep your calendar and taste buds open!
A Grant from the City
Thanks to Diane Hansen who wrote a grant proposal to the City of Newburyport Committee for Diversity and received $1650 to fund the performance of the Lykeion Ellinidon Dance Troupe on November 16. The Committee awards money to groups who help the community grow in their understanding of and appreciation for different cultures. The money which the Committee awards is raised by a group called “The Friends of Peace”. They raise the money at the Wet Art Auction which is held annually in Nicholson Hall. It would be good to attend that event and support this group which is helping to support our Church! Thanks again to Diane for writing a powerful grant proposal!
Time For Camp
Father and Presbytera, as well as a number of our children will be attending the Metropolis Summer Camp during the week of July 14-20. If your children are interested in attending the camp that week, or one of the other weeks during the summer, please see Father for an application. Please do not let financial constraints keep the children from coming! Please talk to Father if this is a concern.
Need Kollyva?
Very often it comes time for a Memorial Service, and the family runs scrambling to try to find someone who can make the Kollyva (tray of boiled wheat). There is no need to go outside of the parish. If you need Kollyva, please see Presbytera, who has been making the Kollyva for years. The donation for the tray is $100; the money, after expenses, is normally donated to St. Basil’s Kitchen or the Church.
Donations
All parishioners are reminded that Annunciation Church welcomes your donations, large or small. Please consider making a donation “in Honor of” special occasions such as a marriage, anniversary, baptism, promotion or other special event to recognize a family member, friend or co-worker. Donations “in Memory of” may be made to commemorate the passing or anniversary of a special family member or friend. You are welcome to specify in an obituary that memorial donations may be made to our beloved Church. Donations will be recognized each month in The Beacon. If you wish your donation to be recognized as “anonymous”, please be sure to specify that.

Christmas Pageant 2007
The Pageant, the carols and the community made the event memorable again this year.
Stewardship
Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church depends mainly on stewardship
contributions to meet its annual budgetary commitments. Stewardship contributions should represent
a FAIR SHARE commitment by each family or single person. Such a commitment is a pledge to support
Christ’s Church and His ministry by giving our fair share. The term “fair share” means
contributing the fair portion of our income in order to support the ongoing
ministry of the Church.
